Medical Director
Dr. Ramzan views the specific substance as irrelevant, as all drugs and alcohol are used for the same purpose of altering reality and perception. He often notes that ``it does not matter which car you are driving, as the vehicle is driving you to the same destination.``
Dr. Ramzan recognizes that addiction leads to shame and isolation, which can ultimately be fatal. Believing that the opposite of isolation is connection, he launched Primary Addiction Medicine Care of Connecticut, to help patients reconnect with the world and re-enter the game of life. He maintains that as long as there is a new day, there is always an opportunity for redemption and a fresh start.
A proponent of holistic, patient-centered care, Dr. Ramzan utilizes the biopsychosocial profile to analyze the complex interactions between biological, psychological, and social factors. He believes in addressing ``the entire forest, not just a few trees.``
Born in Boston, MA, and raised in Milford, CT, Dr. Ramzan graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a BA in Biology. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine in 2001, followed by an Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Brown University School of Medicine. Being a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Ramzan brings 25 years of clinical expertise spanning primary care, chronic care management, hospital and critical care, urgent care, and addiction medicine.
